Composites, also known as fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP), are materials that are comprised of strong load-carrying fibre reinforcement embedded in a polymer, known as matrix. The reinforcement results in a very strong and rigid material at very low weight, and the matrix can be combined in many different ways in order to meet specific requirements.
By using GRP and CFRP it is possible to create advanced composite materials with properties such as high mechanical strength, low weight and high thermal insulation. Further the material is maintenance free, has excellent dimensional stability and high corrosion and chemical resistance.
